Special Purpose Admixtures Not Covered by EN 934

Some admixtures are not covered by EN934 but the Cement Admixtures Association has produced a UK document based on EN 934 with requirements for establishing the suitability for use of special purpous admixtures.

This document the ‘CAA Guidelines for establishing the suitability of special purpose concrete admixtures’ is available as a free download on the publications page of this web site.

BS 8443

The CAA has now worked with BSI to introduce a new British standard for special purpose admixtures. This will allow admixture suppliers to show ‘Established Suitability’ for their products in compliance with the requirements of EN 206-1. The new Standard BS 8443 is based on EN 934 and provides definitions, general and specific requirements for special purpose admixtures.

To show compliance, the supplier should be able to provide the purchaser with a copy of the Initial Type Testing (ITT) Certificate for the admixture and proof that within the last year, a Notified Body has confirmed that the manufacturer is carrying out the quality testing required in the standard.
